US physicians graduated in Cuba to raise voices against blockade

Five US graduates from the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba (ELAM) will have the opportunity to participate in the Day against Blockade 2017, which will be held in Washington D.C. from September 11 through 16, as announced today by its organizers.

Five US graduates from the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba (ELAM) will have the opportunity to participate in the Day against Blockade 2017, which will be held in Washington D.C. from September 11 through 16, as announced today by its organizers.

This event, organized by solidarity groups with Cuba, will be focused on the impact on health sector of the 55-year-old Washington siege and rejected by the international community.

According to information provided by Prensa Latina, the aforementioned physicians will join Cuban health professionals who have been invited to the meeting.

They are eager to get to Washington and share their insights, talk about what they have learned in Cuba, and how those teachings can improve health care for US people.

Established by the Cuban government in 1999, following an initiative by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, ELAM has graduated over 28,500 doctors from 103 nations, including 170 from the United States.
