Visitors, tourists and residents of Cuba will be able to see a total lunar eclipse on the last day of this month, although on the island it will only be seen in its initial phase, the Institute of Geophysics and Astronomy reported today.

The source specifies that its low visibility is due to the fact that it will occur at a very low altitude above the horizon before it is set, which will occur at 07:09 local time in the Morro Castle of Havana and 06: 37 in Santiago de Cuba.

In its note the scientific entity also offers details to sky watchers and lovers of astronomy, which indicates that in the Cuban capital, from the Morro Castle, beyond the bay, you can see the eclipse in the 82°21'23.0 W, 23°09'09.0N, taking into account the time zone: 5h 00m west of Greenwich.

The eclipse will be visible in western South and North America, the latter except in its eastern part.

In the rest of the world, it will be appreciated in the North of Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East, East Africa, the Indian Ocean, Australia, Asia, the Pacific Ocean, and Oceania.

This lunar event generates great expectations since it will also be a total eclipse of the blue moon, an unrepeatable astronomical rarity since March 31, 1866.

The last night of January will also be a Supermoon, so three astronomical phenomena will occur at the same time, the digital site Space.com highlighted.
