Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain, Alfonso María Dastis Quecedo, who said he felt in Cuba as if he were at home.

Dastis Quecedo, on an official visit to the island, emphasized the historic ties and closeness between the two peoples, which he said he felt when he arrived and conversed with the Cubans, because "it feels like home."

He considered symbolic that the favorable current state of bilateral relations is crowned with a Spanish visit at the highest level, from which he only advanced that the two governments will work to make it a reality in the agreed time, without specifying date.

These statements are made after the announcement made a few months ago by the Spanish foreign minister, when he said that King Philip VI and the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, will visit Cuba "as soon as possible."

Rodríguez Parrilla emphasized the productive nature of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, which allowed confirming the favorable state of the links between Cuba and Spain, with special cultural foundations.

The Cuban foreign minister reiterated the willingness of the Cuban side to continue expanding relations and deepening them in all sectors of common interest, which "are many and significant."

Dastis Quecedo arrived in Cuba on Tuesday for a two-day official visit in which, among other activities, he will hand Eusebio Leal, Historian of Havana, the Order Isabel la Católica, and unveil a sculpture of Cervantes in the Palacio de los Capitanes General, in the oldest part of the Cuban capital.
