Reelected President of Venezuela Pleads for Peace for Development

The re-elected President Nicolás Maduro called for the consolidation of peace and coexistence among all political sectors of Venezuelan society with a view to advancing towards the solution of the economic problems of the South American nation.
Winner of the presidential elections this Sunday with five million 823 thousand 728 votes, 68 percent of the vote, Maduro ratified his commitment to recover the Venezuelan economy, during a popular rally outside the Miraflores Palace (seat of the Executive, in Caracas.
Before the crowd gathered to celebrate his electoral victory, Maduro reiterated the call for a day of permanent dialogue and reconciliation with all political, social and economic sectors of the country.
In this regard, he called on the former presidential candidates to come together to establish a constructive agenda for the development and future of Venezuela.
Maduro emerged victorious from the polls with an advantage of more than four million votes over his closest challenger, the standard bearer of Progressive Advanced, Movement to Socialism and the Committee of Independent Political Electoral Organization (Copei), Henri Falcon, who received the endorsement of one million 820 thousand 552 voters.
Falcón ignored the triumph of the Frente Amplio de la Patria candidate even before the announcement of the results by the authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE), with 92 percent of the data transmitted, a trend that is now irreversible.
Given this situation, the Venezuelan leader urged the opposition representatives to recognize the will expressed by the people through the exercise of the vote, stating that the country needs responsible politicians to provide solutions.
Maduro warned that no argument on the right to justify the outcome of the elections would overshadow the victory of the revolutionary forces, referring to allegations about alleged irregularities in the installation of political information points, made by Falcón and by Javier Bertucci (Esperanza por the change).
He asked the CNE authorities to review 100 percent of the polling stations and asked that the international accompaniers stay in the country to carry out the audit of the entire electoral process carried out this Sunday to certify the transparency and legitimacy of the same.
Of the more than 20 million Venezuelans summoned to vote this Sunday, May 20, a total of eight million 603 thousand 936 voters went to the polls, a little less than half of the citizens registered in the voter registry.
Nicolás Maduro will occupy the presidency of Venezuela in a new mandate period from 2019 to 2025, with a government program focused on deepening social protection policies and the recovery of the economy against the destabilizing actions promoted by oligarchic sectors.
