The Cuban Ambassador in Peru, Sergio González, confirmed that his country has been, is now and will always be a peace advocate, commenting on an international seminar for the abolition of military bases.

Stressing the importance of the event held recently on the island, with more than 300 participants from various nations of the world, Gonzalez joined the claim by the dismantling of all military bases, the destruction of nuclear weapons and global disarmament as premises to establish a world with peace.

He also referred to one of the main claims of those present at the meeting, the return to the Cuban people of the territory illegally occupied in Guantánamo by the United States, which was reflected in the Final Declaration document of the seminar.

He also said that Cuba has always denounced in all the possible scenarios and permanently, that the use of nuclear weapons is a crime against humanity, and a threat to the survival of human beings.

'This was part of the political thought of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro,' said the Cuban diplomat, adding: 'let us have the courage to proclaim that all nuclear or conventional weapons, all those serving to make war, must disappear'.
