The Habano, most famous Cuban export product, has a warm welcome in the Chinese tobacco monopoly and projects great potentiality for its marketing in this nation, assured today the top executives of that joint venture.

'Montecristo, the Legend Lives On', was the slogan that invaded this capital last night in an event -for the first time in many years of trade relations between Cuba and China- had the presence of the highest direction of Corporacion Habanos S.A., as well as clients, businesspeople and consujmers of the Chinese tobacco monopoly.

Jose Ma. Lopez, vicepresident of Development of Habanos S.A. explained to Prensa Latina that the Chinese market is today a very important reality for our Enterprise, as it has become the third largest global market for Habanos among the 150 countries in which it is sold worldwide.

With typical Cuban music notes in the background and the famous 'mojito' cocktail, he detailed that the best way to enter this market is bringing the culture of how it is manufactured, how it should be distributed and commercialized in specialized stores through the franchise chain of Casa del Habano or concepts of retail sale.

He assured that after visiting different clients and sales outlets, the top executives could confirm the increasing interest of Chinese consumers and its eagerness to be better informed of what a Cuban cigar is, how it is made, how it is tasted and commercialized.

For his part, Eduardo Torres, director general of the company Infifom Hong Kong, exclusive distributor of Cuban habanos in China, told this agency the delegation's visit was aimed at increasing cooperation and its market quota of cigars in this territory.

Leopoldo Cintas Gonzalez, Commercial vicepresident of Habanos, admitted this first visit has a special importance due to the size of the market and the potentialities still to be exploited.

There is the will on our part and that of the Chinese monopoly to raise our market quota but, more still, expand the culture of Habano, he underlined.

Cintas celebrated the opening of a direct flight Beijing.Habana, in 2015, which has allowed for Chinese tourists to visit Cuba with an increasing interest for the culture of Habano.

At present, the main markets of Habanos are Spain, France, China, Germany, Cuba and Switzerland, countries that represent over 50 percent of the sales.
