Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel is chairing a Foreign Ministry''s stocktaking meeting in Havana on Monday to address the country''s foreign policy priorities and challenges.
Other leaders of the Communist Party and the government will participate in the meeting to review the Foreign Ministry's results last year and the projections for 2019.
Among the key issues to be considered will be the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for almost six decades, at a time when Washington is tightening it.
President Donald Trump's administration threatens to enforce Title III of the Helms-Burton Act to hinder foreign investment in Cuba, an initiative of a markedly extraterritorial nature which experts describe as contrary to international law and the United Nations Charter.
The White House's escalation of aggressiveness in Latin America, particularly against Venezuela, and its determination to appeal to the Monroe Doctrine of domination and meddling, will be undoubtedly discussed at the meeting, as they are also causes for concern.
Cuba maintains diplomatic ties with 195 States and has more than 110 embassies, as well as the seats of several international organizations, according to a recent report from the Foreign Ministry.
