With the presentation of the documentary ''The Merit of Staying Alive,'' collaborators and officials of the Cuban embassy in Algeria celebrated the second anniversary of the physical disappearance of Fidel Castro, diplomatic sources reported Wednesday.
The figure of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution and his close relationship with Algerian personalities such as Houari Boumedienne and Abdelaziz Bouteflika was recalled during the homage.
The audiovisual produced by Mundo Latino directed by Omelio Borroto, which gathers moments of the caravan's journey through the whole island with the remains of the Commander in Chief and valuable testimonies of his comrades, was presented at the headquarters of the Cuban embassy in this city.
The Cuban ambassador, Clara M. Pulido, recalled that by historical coincidence, Fidel's death occurred on the same day that 60 years ago the Granma yacht with 81 expeditionaries had left Mexico, ready to overthrow the dictator Fulgencio Batista.
For this reason, the diplomat assured, November 25, 2016 is the date on which Fidel returns to command Granma to continue the revolutionary work.
This film was also presented in the 15 provinces where Cuban collaborators work in this nation, who commemorated the date with different initiatives, according to the source.
