Cuban food industry is working hard on production linkages, with the objective of accelerating the assortments to the population, service and tourism sectors.

This strategy is one of the country's priorities to reduce food imports the Cuban State should carry out yearly to make up the deficit caused by the poor conditions of its facilities, the technological obsolescence and the low productivity of many entities that do not satisfy the demand.

Jesús Rodríguez, Vice-President of the Food Industry Business Group, stated that the investments for these programs aimed at enhancing the dairy and meat industries.

He also explained that the sustained growths of milk, pork and beef by the implementation of programs prioritized in these agricultural branches which include an increase of the sale prices to retailers, will allow to accelerate the fulfillment of these purposes.

Moreover, these production linkages forsee the reduction of delivery times from the industry to the consumer, through the incorporation of new means of transportation, as well as increase the responsibility of administrative leaders to improve the goods' quality and fight hard against illegal acts.

These programs at a medium and long term until 2030, have a comprehensive and chain approach, and include wrapping and packing, said Betsy Díaz, Deputy Minister of this sector.

And she added: we will try to eliminate bulk products, since this undermines the quality, as well as increase rum exports, one of the most demanded goods in the international market, finished Diaz.
