Cuban rider Marlies Mejias ranked 28 th in the Santos Women's Tour held in Australia from last January 11 to 14, which she attended as guest by American club Sho-Air Twenty20.

Mejias thus showed her skills quite early with this squad when becoming its second best representative as she was only surpassed by teammate Shayna Powless (25th), in a race won by American Amanda Pratt, who runs for the local side of Mitchelton-Scott.

In the first two stages, the Cuban cyclist finished 37th and 43rd respectively, but she managed to be included in the top ten in the two other stages when ranking 10th in each of those stretches.

The Sho-Air Twenty20 has status of UCI Women's World Team and invited Mejias to run for them this year, after her terrific performance the previous year with the Argentine side of the Weber Shimano Ladies Power, which only has a continental status.

The competition was attended by 101 cyclists from 17 teams and the winning squad was the aforementioned Mitchelton-Scott.
