Cuban musicians from the Colibri Productions Record Company and Egrem (Recording and Music Editions Company) stand out on Friday among the nominees for the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards.
The diva of the Buena Vista Social Club, Omara Portuondo, stands out as one of the nominees in the Best Traditional Tropical Album category, with the Omara Siempre(Omara Always) album, a condition that the so-called 'Novia del feeling' ('Bride of feeling') shares with the duet between the Dominican salsa singer Jose Alberto El Canario and the Santiaguero Septet.
The latest with the album A mi que ('So what') - Tribute to the Cuban classics, both Egrem productions.
Palante el mambo, by Diego Gutierrez, is included under the same labels as Best Tropical Fusion Album, and is one of the most recent exponents fed by Cuban troubadour roots and son.
Meanwhile, Cuban singer, pianist and actress Aymee Nuviola was a finalist for the coveted award with the album Como anillo al dedo ('Like Ring to the Finger') by Top Stop Music.
Cuban label Producciones Colibri showed their proposal Fuerza Arara ('Force Arara') by rapper Telmary, a recording which opts for the Best Alternative Music Album.
The album Cantor del pueblo ('Singer of the People') by Alexander Abreu and Havana D'Primera aspires to win the Best Salsa Album, distributed internationally by the Barcelona production company Pafata Productions and licensed in Cuba by Abdala.
The 2018 Latin Grammys will be presented on November 15 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. Nevada, United States.
