Cuban flavors and rhythms cheered up nights of this Dutch city on occasion of the Culinary Festival dedicated to the Caribbean nation in an occasion that allowed to show its cultural wealth, informed today diplomatic sources.

The inauguration of the three-day event, hosted by the Crown Plaza Promenade Hotel, was presided by the Cuban ambassador in the Netherlands, Soraya Alvarez and the hotel general manager, Patrick Aarsman.

In her speech, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the values of the island's gastronomy, originated in its cultural mix, associated with aboriginal, Yucatan, Spanish, African and Asian ancestors.

She also mentioned the activity is included in the beginning of celebration days commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

During the event, attendants could taste an exquisite traditional menu elaborated by young Cuban chef Reynier Suarez and his assistant Claudia Gonzalez, together with the popular Mojito, cocktail prepared by specialist Lester Fernandez, who is part of the staff of the Cuban embassy in The Netherlands.

The Festival was entertained also by the music of the duo 'Caney', which interpreted emblematic themes of the traditional Cuban repertoire.
