Cuba won silver in the men’s Under-21 Continental Volleyball Championship after losing 3-1 to the United States

Cuba won silver in the men’s under-21 Continental Volleyball Championship after losing 3-1 (25-17, 29-27, 19-25, 25-22) to the United States, in the city of Gatineau, Canada.
En route to the final, the Cuban team defeated Trinidad and Tobago, Guatemala and Canada 3-1 during the knock-out stages, beating Guatemala by the same point margin in the semifinals for a second time on July 9. The U.S. team defeated both Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Barbados to advance directly to the semifinals, where they also beat Canada 3-0.
Before the final, Cuba’s Miguel Ángel López was second highest scorer of the competition, with 55 points (40–attack, four–block and 11–serve), followed in third place by his teammate Miguel David Gutiérrez (52-31-4-17).
López and Gutiérrez scored 14 times against the United States in the final, with opposite José Carlos Romero tallying points for the team on 19 occasions.
Canada defeated Guatemala 25-13, 25-12, 25-19 to take the bronze.
