Cuba will host the 4th International Congress of Mining and Metallurgy (Minemetal 2018), from September 25 to 27, an interaction scenario between research and development centers with the business environment, the corresponding Ministry informed today.

Cuban and foreign academics will meet to promote the execution and make visible the results achieved in the scientific area, said the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

The event also includes an Expoferia where innovations will be presented in mining, geology, salt production, agriculture, light industries and chemistry, as well as teaching and scientific research associated with these sectors.

The event will be held at the Plaza America Convention and Commercial Centre, located in the Varadero resort, Matanzas province.

It will have the participation of representatives from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Congo, Cuba, Ecuador, France, Italy, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia and Switzerland.

According to the organizing committee, the event aims to strengthen traditional perspectives and incorporate experiences in areas such as health and safety at work, information technology and telecommunications in mining and geology, and other branches, which confirm the multidisciplinary scope of the activity.

Some of the issues discussed in the scientific area are related to potential assessment, prospecting and exploration of mineral resources; geophysics and topography for mining and salt; mining and experiences in the exploration, exploitation and processing of metallic and non-metallic minerals.

There are also specialized technical services in drilling and laboratory; commercialization of products from mining and metallurgy; responsible environmental management in the metallurgical mining industry; occupational health and safety in mining operations, metallurgical and search and exploration of mineral resources, among a range of problems in the sector.
