The second edition of the European Film Festival in Cuba includes on June 5, a concert of classical music with soundtracks of movies, organizers announced.

The Havana Lyceum Orchestra will be the main protagonist of the event titled 'Classical music in European cinema', scheduled to take place at the San Felipe Neri Oratory, announced the press and information officer of the European Union delegation in Cuba, Yanet Toirac.

The piece Punto y Tonada by Carlos Fariñas used in the Cuban-Rusian film Soy Cuba (1964) by director Mikhail Kalatózov will open the event and will be followed by the second movement of Mozart's Concerto 21, used in films such as the Danish Elvira Madigan (1967) and the French Le Concert (2009).

In addition, the orchestra will play Aires Tropicales, by Paquito D'Rivera, which can be heard on the film Calle 54 (2000), by Spanish Fernando Trueba, and Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland, soundtrack for Martha Graham Dance Film (1958) by Latvian Peter Glushanok.

The program is completed by El Manisero, by Moisés Simons, with arrangements by Jenny Peña, considered the most used Cuban theme in the cinema.

The 2nd European Film Festival, opened Wednesday in Havana, exhibits until next June 11, 19 film from 16 countries.
