Cuba goes for new medals in Disabled Athletics Competition

Two time Paralympic Champion in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Leinier Savón, will open the Cuban participation on Friday in the Disabled World Athletics Cup of London, Great Britain, which will spread until July 23.

Two time Paralympic Champion in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Leinier Savón, will open the Cuban participation on Friday in the Disabled World Athletics Cup of London, Great Britain, which will spread until July 23.

Savón will be in the qualifying rounds of 100 meters category T12 (deep visual dweebs), in the Olympic Queen Elizabeth Stadium of London, to be classified for the semifinals on Saturday, and from there, to go the finals.

He will also try to classify for the 200 T12 meters, trying to get two gold medals, something he did in Doha (Qatar) in 2015.

For her part, female Cuban sprinter Omara Durand confirmed by the Internet that so much she, as her teammates Luis Felipe Gutiérrez and Valerys Larrondo passed the reassessment test by the team doctors, before the competitions.

Durand and Gutiérrez maintained the categories T12 and F12, respectively, but Larrondo switched to the T13 (visual dweebs).

The outstanding Cuban sprinter might win the gold medals she won in Doha and in Rio de Janeiro in the Paralympics, in 100, 200 and 400 meters T12.

Gutierrez will be competing in the T12 long jump and the T13 high jump.

Another Cuban athlete, will be Leonardo Diaz in the F56 discus throw with the use of chairs, for Sunday, July 16.

Ernesto Blanco will try to keep his condition as Paralympic Champion in the T47 400 meters.
