Royal Caribbean has confirmed that it might arrive to Cuba this summer season, if it obtains an official authorization to go in and outside of the country. “We are already holding talks with several authorities to
obtain the necessary permits”, said Michael Bayley, Executive Director of the shipping company.
The Empress of the Seas cruise ship has scheduled to do short trips by the Caribbean from Miami, until the end of July.
“We hope to sail in Cuba by late July or early August, assuming we have the permission of the Cuban government”, added the executive.
The large vessel that would sail toward Havana, with a capacity for up to 1 602 passengers, previously offered its trips to Pullmantur Spanish cruise line.
As regards to this company, owned at present by Royal Caribbean, which sold 51% of its stockholders to Springwater, had not yet foreseen to operate in Cuba, but this might change.
