Cuban star Juan Miguel Echevarria qualified here today for the final of the long jump of the World Athletics Championships, Doha 2019, with a jump of 8.40 meters, to show he is a solid favorite for the title.

Cuban star Juan Miguel Echevarria qualified here today for the final of the long jump of the World Athletics Championships, Doha 2019, with a jump of 8.40 meters, to show he is a solid favorite for the title.

Echevarria, world indoor record holder in Birmingham 2018 and Pan American title holder of Lima 2019, achieved his qualifying record in the first jump attempt to easily lead group A.

Japanese Yuki Hashioka, who jumped 8.07m, US Steffin McCarter (8.04) and Greek Miltiadis Tentoglou (8.00) were the other qualified from group A for the Doha 2019 final. From group B, US Jeff Henderson with a jump of 8.12 meters, South African Ruswahl Samaai and Spanish Eusebio Cáceres, the last two with 8.01, won the ticket for the final.
