Central bank of Cuba adheres to Central American Institution

Central Bank of Cuba (BCC) signed the adhering instrument to the constitutient agreement with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) today in Havana.

Central Bank of Cuba (BCC) signed the adhering instrument to the constitutient agreement with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) today in Havana.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of BCC, led by the executive president of CABEI Nick Rischbieth, and the BCC''s president minister Irma Martinez, in presence of the Cuban vice president of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas, who is also minister of Foreign Trade and Investment.

The signature of such agreement formalizes Cuba entry in this important regional multilateral institution, which will allow to strengthen even more the already broad relations with Central American countries, the signatories assented.

The action support projects of economic and social development and those of integration, backed up by that regional financial institution.

CABEI was created in 1960 and it is a multilateral institution that has as a mission to promote economic integration and balanced development of the countries of such area.

Besides, it includes among its functions regional unity and sustainability of its resources.

Among CABEI's founding members are Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, while another eight countries are non-founding extra-regional members, and there is one beneficiary member.
