The validity and transcendence of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, as well as his far-sighted and prophetic vision and humanism were highlighted on Saturday at an emotional evening in the Cuban Embassy in Argentina.
On the 93rd anniversary of his birth this month, Argentineans, Cubans and diplomats from other countries of the continent got together to remember the legacy of a man ahead of his time, a beacon and light for thousands of people who dream that a better world is possible.
The event was attended by Argentinean personalities who knew him closely, such as Nobel Peace Prizewinner Adolfo Perez Esquivel, writer and journalist Stella Calloni, actress Cecilia Rosetto and Argentine-Cuban intellectual Maria Santucho.
The testimonies of these personalities about their meetings with the Cuban leader were included in the book 'Fidel Castro en la memoria Argentina' (Fidel Castro in Argentina's Memory), by journalists Julio Ferrer and Hector Bernardo. Ferrer and Bernardo attended the event with a text that also includes some anecdotes by personalities like former President Cristina Fernandez or soccer player Diego Armando Maradona.
Launched at the Buenos Aires Book Fair this year, the book, presented by Acercandonos Ediciones, was reprinted for the occasion with a preface by Cuban intellectual and former Minister of Culture Abel Prieto.
