The Acosta Danza company confirmed today that it will premiere in Cuba one of the hits of the American choreographer Justin Peck in its spring season on April 21, 22 and 23.

The resident choreographer of New York City Ballet (NYCB) called his work Belles-Lettres, to evoke the lyrical universe of literature and the romantic echoes of one of the golden ages of art, the Belle Époque, a historical period between 1870 and the beginning of World War I.

The inspiring neoclassical piece saw the light in 2004, with the music of French composer César Franck.

Peck created Belles-Lettres for the NYCB and from the first staging, it became one of the trump cards of this choreographer all over the world.

Its premiere in Cuba by the Acosta Danza will take place in Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso and the program is completed with the staging of Anadromous, a work of the young local choreographer Raúl Reinoso; De punta a cabo, of the Cuban Alexis Fernández (Maca); and Twelve, of the Spanish Jorge Crecis.

With the Spring Season, the company founded and directed by Cuban star dancer Carlos Acosta celebrates the first anniversary of his stage debut and joins the celebration of the 180th anniversary of Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso.
