36 Fatal Victims of Plane Crash in Cuba Identified

The director of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Cuba, Sergio Rabell, reported today that there are 36 fatal victims identified after the plane crash this Friday, in which 110 people died.

The director of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Cuba, Sergio Rabell, reported today that there are 36 fatal victims identified after the plane crash this Friday, in which 110 people died.

This morning, we identified three other victims, all male, the official told Cuban and foreign journalists covering the Boeing 737-200 aircraft leased by Cubana de Aviacion, which rushed ashore shortly after taking off from Jose Marti International Airport in this capital.

Rabell reiterated that all the bags with the bodies were already examined, as well as classified the belongings of the human beings on board the aircraft of the Mexican company Damojh, in which 113 passengers and crew were traveling, the latter of Mexican nationality.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the director of the Institute of Legal Medicine explained that the experts have in their possession much of the information related to foreigners, especially the six Mexican crew members.

A part of their relatives is here, and samples have already been taken to do the DNA tests; it is possible that we can move forward in the afternoon, he said.

According to Rabell, in the case of the two Argentines, the authorities are still in contact with the embassy of that country.

The embassy provided some of the information, and should be sending the DNA profile, which allows us to arrive at a positive identification, he added.

In the Boeing 737-200 crashed on Friday also traveled a Mexican tourist and two Sahrawi residents on the island, along with 102 Cubans, three of which are survivors.
